When you have far too much clutter on your laptop or even your PC, you may find that you end up experiencing some performance issues. If you are experiencing issues such as freezing, or even a hard time finding the documents you need, then now may be the best time for you to try and free up some of your hard drive. If you want to find out more, then simply look below.

Uninstall any Apps that are Not Required

Just because you are not actively using an old app, doesn’t mean that it isn’t still lingering on your system. If you want to take control of the system you have, then you need to delete any old apps. If you want to do this properly then click on Start and then click on Apps. From there you can go to Features and then sort by the size of each one you have installed. The great thing about this is that you can easily clean up your system with ease.

Clean your Desktop

A lot of people store everything on their desktop because it is the best way to find things. That being said, there is a better way. Having a lot of desktop clutter will really slow your system down because you are using a lot of operating memory to display those items all of the time. Think about deleting the files that you no longer need and then move the rest to Documents, Photos or even Video. You can free up a lot of space on your hard drive when you delete them as well, so you don’t have to worry about your computer slowing down too much. If you want to convert your files, remember you can do so with ease by using a .docx to .pdf online tool.

Get rid of any Big Files

A lot of computers are incredibly efficient in terms of how they store data. That being said, if you look at bigger files, you will soon find that they can suck up storage that you just can’t afford to spare. If you want to see which files are the biggest then go onto This PC and then type in the word “size” into the search box. If you do this then you will be able to see many options, from “gigantic” to “empty”. If you want to make the biggest difference, then make sure that you start with the biggest file to see if you can delete it. If you can’t then move on to the next file.

Use the Clean Up Tool

This option comes as standard if you have a Windows 10 PC. It is a single-click solution and it is way better when it comes to deleting files that you just don’t need. Windows can find these files for you and you can then count on the system to remove anything you haven’t used in a while. Note, that this is not the same as defragmenting your system. Both are optimal if you want to maintain full performance.
